Technical InformationA number of people have asked me what webcam equipment and software I use on this site, so here is a brief description. HardwareThis is the harbour webcam in place on the living room window sill ![]() The Camera (on the right) is an IPKamera9000 which is a stand-alone unit (network camera) with a small built in web server. It connects directly to the home network via a wireless link provided by the unit on the left, a Linksys WGA54G. This is actually a wireless gaming adapter intended to be used with XBoxes etc, however it works perfectly well in this application as well. In the spare room (the computer room :) ) is a Linux server (Centos 4.3) which runs this website, and the software which generates the camera images/videos. ![]() It's a Dell Poweredge SC430 (the black one on the left). The machine on the right is a Windows file server and has nothing to do with this website/webcam. The Linux server is connected to the network via a Billion 7402GL wireless ADSL modem/router (the small box on top of the file server at the back). This provides a 13Mbit ADSL2+ connection to the Internet via my ISP, Internode
